B.Pharm

B.PHARM & PHARM.D

Admission Procedure:

For admission to the professional course like B.Pharm & Pharm.D, the State Government, conducts an entrance exam called TSEAMCET every year in the month of April/May. The students are given ranking based on the marks obtained in the test and percentage of marks at intermediate level or 10 + 2 level. Both M.P.C & Bi.P.C groups are eligible. Admissions are conducted by the Convener TSEAMCET in a systematic manner by means of web counseling, based on the combined rank obtained in the TSEAMCET. Thus opportunity is given to the student to choose the course and college. 70% of seats are filled through the TSEAMCET rank by the Convener and 30% seats are filled by the management, based on the merit at Intermediate or as per the State government prescribed rules from time to time.

ECET (For lateral admission into 2nd year regular B.Pharmacy)- Eligibility Requirements:

The student will be ranked (Integrated Merit Rank) based on the marks obtained by him / her in the TS ECET -Examination.

Candidates should satisfy the following requirements:

  • They should be of Indian Nationality.
  • They should belong to the State of Telangana / Andhra Pradesh. The candidates should satisfy local / nonlocal status requirements as laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) Order, 1974 as subsequently amended. The same is adapted to the State of Telangana G.O.Ms. No. 33 dated 31.12.2014.
  • They should have obtained a Diploma in Pharmacy from the State Board of Technical Education of Telangana / Andhra Pradesh or any other Diploma recognized by the Government of Telangana / Andhra Pradesh as equivalent there to for admission into the B. Pharmacy Courses corresponding to the Diploma as given in the Instruction Booklet.

Schedule of Admissions:

Convener (General) Quota: Category -A (Number of seats: B.Pharm - 70 & Pharm. D - 21):

Usually the admissions by the TSEAMCET Convener start in July/Aug. and close by Sep/Oct every year. However the schedule may vary from year to year. After the counseling, the left over seats shall be filled by the colleges through spot admission according to the rules prescribed by the State Government.

Management Quota: Category- B (Number of seats: B.Pharm - 30 & Pharm. D - 9):

The Management Seats (Category-B) are filled by the Management as per the schedule and rules prescribed by the State Government. Tuition Fee for Category B Seats B. Pharmacy & Pharm. D as per the rules prescribed by the State Government.

RESERVATION POLICY:

Provided that there shall be reservation of seats for the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other Backward Classes in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government/State Government/Union Territory Administration as the case may be from time to time.

B.Pharmacy (MORE INFORMATION)

Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) is an undergraduate degree course in the field of Pharmacy education is a four year degree course. This course is designed to give knowledge and experimental skills regarding all aspects of drugs. This course comprises various subjects to give the knowledge and practical skills regarding the synthesis/extraction of drugs, formulation of drugs into various dosage forms like tablets, capsules injections etc, analysis of drugs and dosage forms, testing of drugs and dosage forms on animals / human volunteers and the legal requirements for manufacture and sale of drugs and dosage forms by a company and discovery of new drugs and dosage forms.

There is huge number of opportunities available for the students after completing a graduation degree in both public and the private sector. The students can work various departments in Pharmaceutical Company or can practice as a Pharmacist.

Pharm.D (MORE INFORMATION)

Pharm.D is a Six year course. This course is approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi and introduced in the year 2008 in India. Pharm. D is aimed to give thorough knowledge & skills for pharmacy practice in India. The duration of the course shall be six academic years (five years of study and one year of internship or residency) full time with each academic year spread over a period of not less than two hundred working days. Pharm. D course is doctoral degree that focuses majorly on the clinical pharmacotherapy and clinical pharmacy practice and indulge with both the physician and the patient in providing appropriate pharmaceutical care.

The academic curriculum equips the students with the knowledge required to perform their duties properly. As to explain briefly the 1st year of curriculum gives the basic understanding of the pharmaceutical and physiological aspects. The 2nd year curriculum gives the basic touch of clinical therapeutic approaches along side of pharmacy practice aspects. The third year of curriculum explains the pharmacological, analytical and formulational aspects alongside of the pharmacotherapeutics. In 4th year students clinically ready for hospital sessions, project work gives the knowledge on pharmacological, toxicological, therapeutic and statistical methodologies and explains about the aspects of research, monitoring, coat effective treatment alternatives in the 5th year. The clerkship in the 5th year gives you perfect knowledge on case studies involving ADR's, drug interactions, medication errors, patient counseling sessions that of the previous years and also lies as a base for the forthcoming internship.

The internship gives exact practical exposure as a work place and establishes your duties and role in that place. This internship makes you learn the complete patient handling skills which are needed when we enter into working sector. During the internship the student should attend ward rounds in minimum six departments.

  • After completing the course, students are gained with the skills in diagnosis, therapeutics usage of drugs, treatment and selection of diseases, etc.
  • They perform tasks like monitoring patients, diagnosing the disease and dispensing the medicine etc.
Minimum qualification for admission to. – Pharm.D. Course:

A pass in any of the following examinations –

  • 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Mathematics or Biology.
  • A pass in D.Pharm course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.
  • Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.
  • Provided that a student should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the course.

Pharm.D. (Post Baccalaureate):

The duration of the course shall be for three academic years (two years of study and one year internship or residency). Pharm. D. (Post Baccalaureate) lateral entry program is a post graduate professional doctoral degree. It was introduced for B Pharm candidates, who want to persue Pharm D (Post Baccalaureate) program, with an aim to to improve clinical and hospital Pharmacy services in India.

It is a phase of training wherein a student is exposed to actual pharmacy practice or clinical pharmacy services, and acquires skill under supervision so that he or she may become capable of functioning independently.

Minimum qualification for admission to M.Pharmacy & Pharm.D. (Post Baccalaureate):

A pass in B.Pharm from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.
